After presenting the main findings at the “Women on the Move” event, the full report on gender equality in the mobility sector in Catalonia is now available for public consultation. This study, driven by the In-Move by Railgrup and Light Mobility Cluster, with support from ACCIÓ, delves into the structural barriers hindering gender equity and offers a comprehensive snapshot of the current landscape in the sector.
Prepared by Roots for Sustainability (R4S) and presented at TMB’s “Espai Gaudí”, the report includes a detailed analysis of gender disparities as well as concrete recommendations to create a more inclusive workplace. Among its conclusions, the study highlights the persistence of significant cultural and structural barriers that limit both access and advancement opportunities for women in a historically male-dominated sector. It also emphasizes the need for close collaboration across all industry stakeholders to drive systemic change.
Sonia Araujo López, President of In-Move by Railgrup and Director of Innovation, Sustainability, and Digital Transformation at Renfe, opened the event by emphasizing the study’s strategic importance. “This report not only identifies the challenges we face but also proposes concrete actions to drive real and lasting change,” said Araujo.
The study was also presented during a roundtable at the Tomorrow Mobility World Congress, where experts from the mobility sector came together to discuss gender equality challenges and share insights on how to achieve a more inclusive future for the industry.
Key Findings of the Study
The report provides a comprehensive view of women’s position in the Catalan mobility sector, addressing topics such as training, representation in leadership roles, and the adoption of inclusive policies within organizations.
