ERCI Webinar | Human Factors in Rail – People and Technology

Date & Time:

June 26, 2024 @ 10:00 - 11:30

What to expect?

In this ERCI webinar you will learn about the role of human factors for the railway sector.

The Berlin-based HFC, part of the Cluster Transport, Mobility and Logistics Berlin-Brandenburg, was founded in 2003 as one of the first private-law institutes in the field of human factors in Germany. Then as now, our goal is to recognise and solve problems in the adaptation of technology to people. HFC specialises in the design of technical systems and software interfaces with regard to usability, product experience, acceptance and safety. This is made possible by an interdisciplinary team that combines expertise in psychology, engineering and computer science. The presentation of HFC provides an insight into the multifaceted research field of Human Factors in transportation. HFC is particularly interested in the challenges the audience is facing in the railway sector.

Railenium is the French Institute for Technological Research dedicated to the railway sector. It supports the actors of the railway industry in the development of their innovations. Research activities are organised into three domains: Human Behaviours and Railway Safety, Artificial Intelligence, and Energy and Assets Management. The research follows the roadmap set by the CORIFER (Conseil d’Orientation de la Recherche et de l’Innovation de la filière FERroviaire – council for the strategic orientation of the railway research and innovation) which deals with four major topics: the future of railway industry and infrastructure, inclusive mobility, zero carbon trains, smart trains. In this presentation, we will focus on HOF activities in the following themes: rolling-stocks, operational control centre, users’ integration.
